o Future Trailer Buyers!

We bought a 2013 Travel Trailer from Curtis Trailers in Hillsboro Or. We traded our older trailer in that had 1 door for a 2 door and we never owed a 2 door trailer before.

Unaware to us when you lock both doors outside the trailer is totally locked. If you unlock the front door and lock it from the inside then go out the back door and close the door you are locked outside, because you can never unlock the deadbolt. We had this happen to us one weekend at the coast at 1130pm when we went to go start our generator due to our battiers that were dead which was fully charged when we left and to put insult on injury our propane tanks were both empty. We had to force the door open because we were locked outside with no coat/shoes/keys or phone.

While our dogs were running loose inside the trailer. The following Monday my husband called Curtis Trailers and talked to our sales person and told him what happend he said "wow" there is nothing I can do and said I have to take this call and hung up on him. My husband took the trailer in and there was a grumpy old service manager who went out to the trailer and said there is no way that can happen unless you had the door open and lock the dead bolt and pretty much called my husband a Liar. That was not true on locking yourself out.

We feel he was incompatant and rude. We were wondering how he ever became a service manager. We would never by from Curtis Trailers again. To make this nightmare better we contacted the manufacture Keystone and they replaced our door for free.

We think Curtis Trailers could of put a little effort into helping us. Ps. We think Curtis Trailers wanted to have no liability that's why they didn't want to help us.

We believe that Curtis Trailers is responsible for this because they never informed us that if you walk outside you are locked out. We both work for big corparations that have lots of contacts and we will tell everyone how they treated us

Location: Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Funny isn't it, for someone that works for a large company, you must be employed in a very meanial job. BECAUSE you certainly are unable to SPELL. Curtis Trailers have not been in this business for this length of time, for them to not have given many, many, and many others great sevice and care.

Funny isn't it. When I was about 12 years old, I played in the trailers at Curtis Trailer on SE Powell Blvd while my father was in buying parts or servicing our ol' Fireball Trailer.

For over 60 years they've been there! Not sure about the Aloha location but I can technically say I've been a customer of Curtis Trailer for over 50 years now. And, it's a NEW Curtis Trailer! Now, their Service Department SUCKS Big Time.

I recently bought NEW there thinking the Good Ol' Curtis Trailers was still in business "As-Is." It is NOT the Good Ol' Curtis Trailer of yesteryear. And, that's the truth!

I will not buy from these guys nor will I have ANYTHING serviced there. And, I'm telling all my RV friends and family, of which are many...Already switched a couple of them.

Thiefs.

They dont care once they sell you the brand new trailer that rains inside ruins your vacation and ruined our personal items not to mention the water damage...

Once ther... Always there

It seems to me that any *** would know that if you lock a door its locked until you unlock it whether your inside or out. If you locked your door and went out side and were locked out maybe you should be posting to the " I can't believe in that ***" website.

When I first read this I was sure it was some sort of โ€˜April Foolsโ€™ joke, expecting a punch line. But then I realized the complaint had been written yesterday.

โ€ฆโ€ฆon Easter Sunday you found the time to post a complaint about an unfortunate life situation that eventually happens to most RVers at some time, if you use your RV often enough. I know it has happened to me, and a few of my friends. Probably more often then weโ€™d all like to admit.

Although unfortunate and inconvenient when this happens, it doesnโ€™t seem that it is any fault of your dealer or trailer manufacturer that you locked yourself out of your trailer.

Home, car and yes, even trailer owners have been locking themselves out for many years. And about as long as this has been happening, people have been hiding spare keys. Usually this happens to us once or twice (or more in cases like mine) before we realize that hiding that extra key is a good idea.

Since I was surfing around on the web when I found your complaint, I thought Iโ€™d search the question of โ€˜how easy is it to lock yourself out of a travel trailerโ€™. Itโ€™s amazing how many frustrating, but yet funny sites and forums pop up. It makes me laugh at myself knowing that Iโ€™m not the only one who has put myself in this predicament.

Iโ€™m sorry to hear that you were put in a scary situation and you feel your dealer treated you badly. But it sounds like in the end someone went to bat for you and you received a new door from the manufacturer. (Why was a new door needed anyway?)

My family has loved all of our camping โ€˜experiencesโ€™ over the years, even the ones that were maddening at the time, but laughed at later. I hope you continue to make camping memories, as life is too short to let this spoil your future RVing fun.

โ€ฆโ€ฆby the way, I now have a hide-a-key on all of my vehicles for when I lock myself out again, because Iโ€™m sure I will.
